What Is The Function Of A Car Torsion Bar

The torsion bar on the rear axle of a sedan is used to reduce the vehicle's roll during turns and improve ride comfort:

1. The torsion bar utilizes the reaction force generated by the force acting on the rod to maintain similar heights on the left and right sides of the vehicle, avoiding tilting. From small cars to heavy-duty trucks, most front suspensions are equipped with stabilizer bars. Due to the need to avoid other surrounding components during design, there are various forms of stabilizer bars, but most of them are in the shape of torsion bars;

2. The anti roll resistance provided by the torsion bar and spring is complementary, and the anti roll resistance occurs in pairs. That is to say, the anti roll resistance at the front of the car is accompanied by the anti roll resistance at the rear. However, due to the proportion of body weight and other external forces, the anti roll resistance at the front and rear is not balanced, which directly affects the transfer of body weight and the balance of handling;

3. The hardness of a torsion bar is determined by the material used, the body, diameter, length of the arm, and the angle formed with the body. The longer the length of the pole body, the softer the hardness, while the longer the length of the pole arm, the higher its hardness.
